C1st & M.H.I. Credit Union

Community 1st Credit Union and M.H.I. Credit Union, of Mount Pleasant, are pleased to announce the merger of the two financial cooperatives.

C1st President/CEO Philip Van Mersbergen said, “We are excited to join forces with M.H.I. Credit Union and bring together two organizations with rich histories. We look forward to the opportunity this provides for all of our members and also look forward to putting the community first in Mount Pleasant and surrounding communities. Together we are stronger and will be able to offer our members a wide array of products and services. We are extremely pleased to have M.H.I. Credit Union join our Community 1st family.”

M.H.I has 500 members with $2.2 million in assets. M.H.I has served the employees and families of the Mount Pleasant and Mental Health Institute since 1957. The credit union will temporarily continue to operate at its current location inside the Mental Health Institute. Plans are under way for a location off site to open membership to residents of Mount Pleasant and surrounding communities.
