Mount Pleasant Branch Groundbreaking

Posted: Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Community 1st Credit Union held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, February 10, 2012, to commemorate the beginning of construction of its newest branch in Mount Pleasant. Despite the freezing temperatures and wind, C1st management, Board of Directors, Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce members, and several others from the community gathered together to break ground at the future site of its newest branch.

The Mount Pleasant branch will be located on Washington Street, just east of Hy-Vee. The 2,000-square-foot building is slated to open in June 2012.

“We are excited about this opportunity to grow and expand value to our members,” President/CEO Philip Van Mersbergen said. “We look forward to the opportunity to put the community 1st in Mount Pleasant and surrounding communities.”

Community 1st Credit Union merged with M.H.I. Credit Union in November, bringing together two financial cooperatives with rich histories. Van Mersbergen said, “together with M.H.I., both organizations are stronger and will be able to offer members a wide array of products and services.”

The Mount Pleasant branch will offer a full-range of financial services. The building will have three teller stations, two offices, a conference room, drive-thru service and 24-hour Priviledged Status ATM availability.

It will be Community 1st Credit Union's 15th branch location.
